Indian Books Presented to Gifu Women’s University Library by the Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Embassy of India in Japan
On Friday, October 23, a ceremony to present books on India from the Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Embassy of India in Japan, was held at Gifu Women’s University in Taromaru, Gifu City.
The Embassy offered the donation through its longstanding relationship of exchange and cooperation with the Center for South Asian Studies at Gifu Women’s University. The 33 donated books have been added to the university library’s collection.
Mr. Aman Akash, Director of the Vivekananda Cultural Centre, and Mr. Naoshige Ono, an Embassy assistant, traveled from Tokyo for the ceremony, which followed a meeting with senior university representatives.
Director Aman Akash presented a book catalogue to Mr. Hirofumi Sugiyama, Chair of the Board of Kayō Gakuen, the school corporation operating Gifu Women’s University. Those in attendance celebrated the donation with enthusiastic applause.
Director Aman Akash also delivered a special lecture to undergraduate students. The students actively asked questions after the lecture, making it a highly meaningful class.
The donated books will be placed on open shelves in the university library for use in students’ learning and research.
